it adopted CCM? I was reading this article at this link http://wayoflife.org/files/7d36a2993...c3b73-757.html
and in it he says that parents have written to him saying that they would not send their children to this school if they started using it as normative. My personal opinion is that because it is still an unaccredited school (they're maybe other factors as well) that they would lose new students.

What an absolute crock! I remember many of these songs performed at LBC years ago back when I was a member! "Shout to the Lord" has been a favorite for years!
And to expose David Cloud's disingenuous tactics here, he mentioned "In Christ Alone" attributing it to "Hillsong United" and Michael English and never mentioning that the song was written by Stewart Townend and the most well-known performance was by Keith and Kristen Getty.
If you are going to trash "In Christ Alone" because it was performed by some CCM artists, perhaps you should discredit songs like "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art" because they were performed by Elvis, Willie Nelson, and many other CCM artists!
And note the conspicuous absense of any scripture to support his stand!
There is much I would disagree with Paul Chappell and LBC but David Cloud is certainly the one who is looney tunes here!
Now, I will not endorse WCBC either but who knows, if they were to use the ESV, get some good doctrine including the doctrines of grace, and perhaps have John Piper as a visiting professor once in a while....![]()
Typical yellow journalism of David Cloud.![]()

Jesus I know, Paul I know but who in the heck is David Cloud? I have never been able to figure where he gains any influence? Has he built a big church? Has he founded a huge Bible college? Is the Editor of a fundamentalists newspaper? Does he give huge amounts of money like a Bill Gates. Is he a well known evangelist?
He is a gad fly with an opinion. Why anyone cares what Cloud thinks obviously does not! As far as I'm concerned He is just another fundamentalist windbag.
I did think it funny to read the latest issue of the SOL and see that Shelton had a problem with Cloud had said. One windbag breaking wind on another wind bag! Too funny!

Great post! I have seen MANY IFBXX churches who use the songs that the *contemporary* artists have made famous, claim the credit, then state they never heard that the original artist had done it.Originally Posted by Texas Bluesman
One time, after hearing 3 Steve Greene songs sung in 3 consecutive services, I approach the pastor's wife to tell her what a blessing the songs had been. I asked her if she knew that those songs had been made famous by Steve Green (one of the *contemporary* artists her husband consistently criticizes). She replied, "No, and I don't know who Steve Green is."
Same church consistently criticizes churches with bands. They have one, but state that they DON'T have a band, they have an orchestra because they have ONE violin player, making it an orchestra. When someone called the church looking for a church to attend and join, they asked the secretary if the church had a band. The secretary replied in the affirmative. The pastor publicly rebuked the secretary stating that she and the members should tell people they don't have a *band,* but they have an *orchestra.*
On a technicality, that may be right. (I'm not a music teacher). But what would most people assume if you knew/saw people with various instruments that included a full set of drums and tambourine? More than likely, they would say band. You think of an orchestra having more than just a whiny violin being played by a 12-year-old child.
A "Band" would never be acceptable in a Church like Lancaster Baptist but they certainly have an "Orchestra."
Same thing goes for drums. You could not have a drum kit in a Church like LBC (set up with kick, toms, snare, hi-hat, Etc.) but so long as you had everything spread around with a one person playing the snare, another playing the bass drum, another playing the toms, another playing the cymbals...Etc.
But of course you cannot have that syncopated backbeat....unless, of course, it is on an accompaniment tape.
One thing I would have to give to David Cloud though. He is being consistent (albeit disingenuous in his approach) in his stand against "Modern Music" and is not on the "Slippery Slope" as Churches like LBC.
