I don't have a tour bike so I am not sure How far I can go with out being real uncomfortable.
About 30 years or so ago, I remember reading in Cycle World about someone making a coast to coast trip on a Honda Trail 90 so if this is more your speed...

US 61 along the Mississippi River, and MN 61 from Duluth to the Canadian boarder along the shore of Lake Superior. Beautiful drive, especially during the fall.
