I am ready to just give up. This girl is crabby and fussy and she is very spitty. She spits up formula and she spits up the breastmilk. I am so frustrated and I always have urp on my clothing.
All four of mine were spitters. Eldest was the worst....projectile even at a week old, but all four did it whether nursed or formula.
I just kept with nursing, but nursed them a little less at a time. It does get better.
Once, I nursed one of mine between Sunday school and morning service, then ran to get to the choir just as they were marching in. I kept smelling spit-up and as I'm standing there on the front row of the choir, I look to my shoulder to see that the young'n' had totally missed the burp cloth I had been trying to protect my clothing with.
I used to say I wore a perfume called, "Spit Up", but your "Urp" sounds more professional.

I'm not perfect; I've never said I was. It's just that some people, by comparison, make me look that way.
Try taking all dairy out of your diet. That means don't even cook with it and see if that makes any difference at all.
Sarah was so sensitive to milk that I couldn't eat anything that had whey or cassein or anything remotely related to milk. But she was an easier child after I took it out. She spit up so much less, too.

any suggestions
I quit after 2 months, then turned it over to the wife.
if you do decide to "give up" on nursing, you're still a good mom.

if she's spitting up, something's not agreeing with her, I would think.
have you tried giving her a little burp break after just five minutes, and then finishing up on that side? sometimes they drink so much and the air below it, and brings it all back up. also, if she's got in the habit of spitting up, more frequent burps might help her to quit.

I would check into the potential food allergy thing. My youngest was horribly crabby and nursing was miserable. I struggled with it for 10 months. I figured she was close to being ready for milk. Turns out she was allergic to milk. If only I had known that 10 months earlier--my diet was upsetting her. She was able to drink goat's milk, and we were lucky (yeah, yeah, I know, there's no such thing as luck!) enough to know someone with goats. I just wish I had known that cutting milk out of my diet would have made her a much happier baby!
Oh, and dittos on the you're not a bad mom if you stop nursing. We are only human. It's a tough row to hoe--some babies are more difficult than others. If it's killing you, and you can't find any solutions, stopping might make you a more happy mommy--which will be better for everyone!
