Anyone else feel the same?
I dislike shopping so much that when I absolutely HAVE to go to the mall or a shopping center for something, I feel overwhelmed almost immediately, and have quite a bit of anxiety. I feel a definite negative emotional reaction to shopping, (especially clothes shopping) and it exhausts me. As a result, my general shopping technique is as follows:
a) determine exactly what I need
b) go to the dreaded mall/shopping center
c) go directly to a store that houses the items that I need
d) try on the fewest number of items possible until I find one that fits
e) buy it, no matter what it costs, because I'd rather pay extra than spend one more minute shopping, and
f) with great relief, head out of the mall
Contrast this to other shoppers I know, who happily spend all day at the mall, trying stuff on, checking out other shops to see what might be on sale, doing price comparisons.... ugh!
The problem: I'm probably spending more money than I need to, because I hate shopping, so I don't compare prices. And, eventually, I'm going to have kids, and they're going to need clothes. And I hate shopping so much, I've actually contemplated (and hoped for) a friend who enjoys shopping, so I can just hand them my kid and a credit card, and tell them to buy whatever the child wants, within reason and a budget. Although, I guess that would be wrong, huh?
Anyone have any tips on how I can rid myself of this hatred of shopping?
