I thought it might be helpful if she were to boost her immunity a bit before she gets the shot. Any suggestions?

Well there is the no brainer stuff that everyone knows like getting the proper amounts of sleep and drinking plenty of water and eating foods that are high in antioxidents like raw fruits and veggies. I am a huge believer in the effects of apple cider vinegar. It supports healthy bacteria. I mix two tablespoons into 6-8 oz of water every day.
Probably the #1 thing she can do though is eliminate refined sugar. And DON'T replace them with artificial sweetners. They're more toxic than cane sugar. She'd be better off with real sugar. Refined white sugar inhibits immune function by reducing it's ability to destroy bad bacteria.
Omega-3 fatty acids are immune boosters, as well as some spices she could add to her diet. Clove, cayenne, cinnamon and ginger for example. I like to get organic ginger tea from my local General Nutrition Center store and drink a cup every day with no sugar. If you don't have a GNC near you, you can order it from them online.
I find chiropractic care to be helpful too. I don't think we can put a wall around ourselves and keep everything from invading but I certainly know that we can boost our immunity. I haven't been sick since June of 2007. Of course, now that I've said that I've probably jinxed myself and I will end up in the hospital with pig flu.
