We had our first Open House tonight for the school. It went very well and I enjoyed it very much. Can't wait until the next one. We rolled out the websites tonight; it worked out very well. We had one laptop running a slide show of school photos while my laptop was displaying the new websites. Very well done.

Kevin, the site looks great, and we hope it drives people to your church. Our church gets more "first time" visitors from our website than any other source except for our own members. We've cut WAY back on yellow pages advertising as the money was not worth it.

I disagree, actually, with the "more color" comment. I'm currently looking for a church, so I've looked at A LOT of church websites lately. I find the simple colors on the FBBC site soothing. Based on the website, I would expect a more "old fashioned" song service, and I would not expect a full drum set behind a plastic partition. [assuming those are correct aspects of your music ministry, that's great! But if you're baitin & switchin, & you offer ear protection before the service, you probably do need to ramp up the site.]

If you want church website idea's, you need to look at the link that Marji posted to her church. The website is great. One of the best church sites I've been on, imo.
Many people look at church websites when looking for a church, I know I have done so. It's well worth the effort to have a very nice, up-to-date site. I know that various churches have different budgets for such things, so I'll tell you what I look for in a site.
1. Pastor Information.
2. Doctrinal Statement
3. Pictures of church activities
4. Information on childrens/teen ministries
5. Music ministry information
If some of this information is not on the website, it drops that church down the list in my search. I want to know before I go and I would prefer to not have to call the church to find out.

I agree. I get tired of all the flashy seizure-producing websites that take forever to load up because of all the extra "pizazz" clogging up the processor.
Plus, not everyone has access to high-speed internet service.
