We kept our kids home from church yesterday due to sick stomachs. We thought it was the candy and food we ate for Halloween. No fevers, just one instance of vomiting. In the morning, they were looking alright.

We still stayed home... and viola... our two youngest have the swine flu.

I got over the "guilt" of missing church years ago for things as simple as "not feeling well." Why put others at risk for a legalistic mindset?

As one trying to recover from whatever sickness I have, it makes no sense to me why someone would take a sick child, or themselves, to church, knowing that they are not well! I missed church for 3 weeks in the last month because my kids have been sick. And, I finally caught it. We have some folks in our church who really would not do well with a serious illness, and it would never occur to me to go and give them something their systems could not fight....and I am all for the "no handshaking". Seriously, you never really know where someone else's hands have been!!!

Agreed, agreed, agreed, agreed. We keep our kids home at the first sign of illness to keep others from getting. Sure would be nice if everyone else would do the same! Our pastor has forgone the hand-shaking the last few weeks because of the start of the flu season & wanting to be sure that things aren't spread to our older members.

I shake hands all day everyday, never have a cold, never had the flu. I wash my hands occasionally, use the hand sanitizer when I see it, but I never worry about it. I have no problem with people with sissy immune systems who don't want to shake hands, but I believe the more germs the better. Your body gets used to them and takes care of it.

we put these around the auditorium so that people can use it and are encouraged to use it before and after hand shaking.

Has worked out pretty well to, saves anyone getting offened if everyone does it than just a few
