Oh, the hurt that must have been felt to intentionally walk away from this joy, forever!

Sorry for the second thread, but there was too much crap to wade through in the other one.

He was scheduled to preach next week in the states. The conference host church just quickly swept him off their website. So typical in IFBdom. So sad.

What do you mean - that they've disavowed him, presumably because of the circumstances of his death?

Took him out of the line-up on the "preachers page" without even mentioning why- like he was never even invited to speak to begin with.

    We're certainly praying for them.

It's painful to even look at that picture without knowing the suffering they are all going through right now. What a beautiful family! I feel their pain.......I was close to the age of one of the little girls when my own father took his life.

God have mercy on this family.

I don't know about which conference you speak but I do know that the Sword of the Lord has mention of his passing, with condolences & a picture, on the front page of www.swordofthelord.com. He was scheduled to speak at the National Sword of the Lord Conference in North Carolina this month.

The Lancaster Baptist Church speaker page was blank after his death only to appear again. There seems to be a connection between these ministries.

Yup. He was scheduled in two weeks in Lancaster for the Spiritual Leadership Conference. Just remove him and move on.

Kinda funny- the page has clips of preaching from previous conferences. The first is a clip from David Gibbs. He says, "we take comfort... in our intentions."

Any details yet on the "why"? As your op states, there must have been some major issue to intentionally leave all this.

And had he been scheduled in a conference I ran, I would do as the Sword - put a little blurb and condolences to the family. But certainly would have "filled in" with the next choice and tried to put a happy face on the conference.

A comment on sharper iron uses the phrase "self inflicted." Unless the writer simply didn't want to use the word "suicide", I fear he inadvertantly revealed the method.

Did you see the write-up on his blogpage from his family? Such a professionally constructed statement that is supposed to pass as "word from his family." It seems almost as if they aren't even allowed to be real during this for the sake of the college and church. You know how it goes: <<stand there, sad, say, "God is in control!" and whisper your thank you's to everyone who passes by. Girls have tissues in your hand, guys rub your mom's shoulder...>>

Back to your question. Let's see, a nationally known Pastor (in the circles, that is), a coast to coast speaker... the ideas are whirling. That's the sad thing about this. They do not want to reveal any information in order to save face, but all that does is make the ideas worse than the problem really is.

I couldn't imagine being so alone, and depressed, to ever kiss the business end of a gun barrell. I mean, how could you ever say, "goodnight, I love you" enough? Sends chills up my spine.

    Going home to the family...
