I don't think we can know for sure what lead him to commit suicide but it is not impossible for a devout believer to feel the need to do something like. From what I knew about him and the circumstances that lead to this, things were going really well. A question to ask is why do some take their own life even when there is success and all their associates are supporting them? Could it have been a sudden severe attack from Satan on his mind at an opportune moment when he was alone? If Satan could attack Job with a physical illness, I'm sure he could attack someone's mind as well if God permits. That is not say that illness always comes from Satan but sometimes it does, especially when someone is healthy and there is no family history of illness (like mental illness).

My parents were able to go to the funeral and sent a sweet report of the Lord's grace on display there.

    Just a brief note:

Dr. Don Sisk spoke. His opening was “We all are thinking one word–‘why?’ ... it’s OK to ask [God] why--if you’re prepared to accept silence as the answer.”

He spoke of the blessing of Greg Baker's life. He then said "But he did wrong. He sinned. What happens when we sin? Jesus, our advocate, steps up and says, 'I paid for that sin on the cross.'"

So grateful for the grace of God displayed through this event.

[NOTE: If you disagree with something I've said or Dr. Sisk said, please, for the love of God, please start another thread. My desire is to honour Greg Baker, to inform those who were not able to be at the funeral, and to honour the Lord for His grace and mercy.]

Don Sisk is a wonderful man. I'm sure he treated the situation with grace and humility.

If you can give any more information about the funeral service, and how the family of Pastor Baker is doing, I would appreciate it.
