The people in most need of prayer and comfort are his family. We should all pray for them in a strong way, and for his grandchildren. Praying for others is what Christians do. I sent them an e-mail saying just that.

His church family will now have close to 30 years of memories to sort through. They need prayer too.

The lesson for us all is that we should be determined to finish strong ourselves. As Jerry Falwell said: "Don't drop the ball in the 4th quarter."

If anyone who is a friend of that ministry is reading this post, rest assured that I, and many others in my circle, are praying for this family during this time. Don't be discouraged - Jesus is still alive and well.

No single person on this thread has held a more self-righteous position than have you. I've been here long enough to know that you don't apologize, even when you are proven out-of-line, so I have no expectations of that nature.

You have not learned yet to marry intelligence with compassion. Frankly, I don't give a rip-roarin' flip what you think of me but you have sunk to a new low on this thread and, if you believe that God blesses the kind of ignorance you've expressed here, I believe you're in for a great surprise someday.

Please, continue your silly insults...it's really all that I ever expect from you, anyway. People of little substance cling to that which they've mastered...insult away. From you, I consider it a gift.

We claim to be Christians....why can't we focus on the fact that a family has lost a husband, father and grandfather.....a church has lost it's pastor?

We may not agree with his stance on issues....but right now, that is not what is important. The family needs our prayers and support....not a critical spirit.

    .

What he built???? That's part of the problem here. Christianity doesn't center around a man. Baker was just a man like you and I. God's plan has not come crashing down.

I agree with this statement, however, could we start these kinds of discussions in another thread?

This thread should be for prayer for this family who is going through a great deal of pain right now. I would rather focus on them than on Pastor Baker and his ministry.

This is a terribly sad situation for what I have known to be a very tight and loving family.

It is one of those situations where true Christianity can be shown by compassion and lending prayers and help to those who are hurting because of their loss. The kind of love that has no boundaries held in perceived doctrine, but is exemplified by the symbolism of the cross. A perfect man who died for a sinful man, a very simple message of love, compassion, and humility.

I pray for the family during this time and that God is honored in all things and that their faith is strengethened.
