I mean really, if you are able to go in, sit down, and avoid looking at the partially nude women, what's the harm in that?
If somebody over in the private room is doing some lines, you probably won't ever know it, so what's the big deal?
And if you stop at, say, 4 beers, maybe you won't even violate any drunkeness precepts.
I mean really, your intents are noble. You went there knowing that you are strong enough to not be drawn away by the lusts of your flesh, and besides that, your job sort of demands you "wine and dine" with the corporate clientel. It will really make you look impressive in the eyes of your boss when it comes promotion time, so go ahead, it's only those weak judgemental Christian fundies that have such hangups about your liberty to enjoy the fruit of the vine and take in some "visual art" while your at it.

You're a hoot man.
For what it's worth, I don't think you crossed any line, unlike some others in that thread. But as far as "watching the brawl", yeah, that's what rubberneckers do when there is a traffic accident!
And I might add, where were you when Pastor Bob called me "sancrimonious" in the "buskid t-shirt thread"?
"Sancrimonious"
That reminds me of the joke about the oriental that went to the eye doctor and was making small talk when the doc looked at his eyes and said "do you have a cataract?" Well, the oriental quickly responded "no, I drive a Rincoln".
And it is also stupid, when you can get a better drink down the street, at Brew Moon, for less money, and not be contributing to, lewd conduct and, the exploitation of women.

Well, I'm sure that you were aware that my post was parody of the "owl" thread, but since you raised the issue of degradation and exploitation of women for financial gain, where's the difference in them and Hooters in that regard?

There is no difference
Both exploit women for financial gain.
You will get no argument from me about this one even though the average girl on the beach in Hawaii has to put some clothes ON to work at Hooters, rather than take them off.
At Hooters, and strip bars, they purposely dress, and act, in a way to entice.
It is the reason, and the motive, not merely the attire, that makes it either right or wrong. In fact it is not even the attire, but the attitude and motives of the person wearing it.
Yeah I know, somebody will come in here and say that is an inconsistent argument.
I say, the sin of lust is the heart of the person looking when no intent to intice is there. But in the case of strip bars, and Hooters, enticement is what it is all about. The sin is both in the heart of the enticer and the person looking with lust.

What is it with you guys and your straw-men arguments. No Christian, under normal circumstances, has any business going into strip clubs. Drinking alcohol has nothing to do with it. Trying to build a case against having a drink and using this parody to do so is a very, very weak argument.

It was not a parody of alcohol, but rather the mentality around here that says that anything goes for the "strong Christian". I remember Smellin Coffee once wrote a post that a man should be able to go to a nudist colony without having lustful feelings. Several other posters in the "Hooters" thread indicated that the girls provocative dress was not a problem for them, so why not just go ahead and concede that those posters are more spiritual than you and the average male Christian who could not go into such establishments without sinning?

Why do you want me to contradict scripture? I am commanded not to compare myself against another. If someone can walk into those places and not sin, God bless them. I can't so I don't. Regardless of whether or not going there is a sin, I know it would cause another brother to stumble... and that, my friend, is a sin.
