    Default WDYN Sold

The internet publication, Chattanoogan.com, is reporting the sale of WDYN o a Charlotte-based broadcasting group for $2.5 million. There is a quote from Lovett about the transaction, and WDYN's not fitting into the scheme for the future.

Temple used to have a broadcasting major. In fact one of their grads is on C-SPAN (PEDRO ECHEVARRIA). Many students used to get experience at WDYN. That was, of course, before Bouler nuked the school and it started spiraling down the toilet. The school is hard up for money. I wonder Lovett's strategic plan includes closing the school because that is where it is headed.

I just wonder how the programming will change - and what will happen to Tom, Bob, etc.
The one great fallacy of fundamentalism is that we actually believe that while we are confessing the sins of others that the Lord will not look as intently on our own.

As I have gotten older, I have tended to become less dogmatic over certain issues: "(1 Cor 2:2 KJV) For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified."

I would not be such a strong believer in God if not for the enemy.

No, as stated in our TTU Facutly chapel, the sell of WDYN, is to help get the school into the black. The plans are to sell the property in Harrison and move Camp Joy to the TTU campus.

How do you feel about this? Obviously, the school gets a life-line and the people get paid and keep their jobs. Is anyone saddeneded by all these ministries being gotten rid of or downsized?

Where on Temple's campus do you put a church camp? The only grass I remember is on the old public school elementary building that Temple now owns.

And with WDYN being sold, will their 1970s era 8 track tapes & LPs be sold, too?

The plan is to use the dorms and gym for activities. Camps are more than swimming and horses. They still have access to Lake Chickamauga

Camp Joy on the TTU campus? It's a college campus not a youth camp! Or is it? This is an obvious move to cut losses, consolidate, circle the wagons, etc.

Lake Chickamauga? I don't know the environs of Chattanooga that well any longer, but I do seem to recall that LC is MILES away from TTU. So, they're gonna bus kids there (girls on one of the lake and boys on the other) then bus them back? You're kidding, right? I say just have the kids play in the old fountain that we used to throw soap into.

Which "dorms" will they use? Phillips and Martin? LOL!!!

And it's sad that WDYN had to be sold. Wonder which format they will switch to... hardcore or news/traffic? Rush at noon on WDYN Chattanooga!!! Or maybe they'll play some of those "red line" songs from the 70's/80's records and 8 tracks they had.

I'm trying to figure out why the plug just isn't pulled. TTU and HPBC both seem to be on life support anyway. Isn't there a DNR in place? Sad, but obvious from all that I can tell from the past two years on FFF/TTU.

This reminds me of the Ally bank commercials where one kid asks for a pony and get a small plastic pony, then the other kid gets a real pony. "Mom, I want to go to camp." One kid gets a real camp, the other gets the gritty inner-city. Frankly, I wouldn't send my kid. The only kids that will go are those whose neighborhoods are worse than HPBC. I know they need the money, but, come on, is anyone buying the idea of camp in the Highland Park neighborhood. It won't last long.
