Another thing -- not deleting accounts when people want to leave permanently is dishonest because it gives the impression that there are a lot more active members than there really are. If a person leaves and never posts again they are not a member.

Kinda like church huh?

I imagine they know that most people keep coming back to read anyway, so why delete the account? It’s a thought, but sadly true, kinda like other things we do when no one is looking. Is there anyone here who isn’t guilty?

We generally don't delete accounts because we have found that the user will come back and re-register. If they have an old account we can usually identify double registration.
