Sometimes... a stinging cheek is what it takes for a woman to realize she has gone to far.

    Just sayin'

And BTW; Nobody seems to have noticed that Sean Connery and his wife have been married 31+ years.

The permission to strike a woman in the case of rebelliousness is based on the Qur´an and the Hadith.

"Admonish those women whose rebelliousness you fear, and leave them alone in their beds, and [even] beat them [if necessary]. If they obey you, do not seek any way [to proceed] against them" Sura al-Nisa´ 4:32.

What a coincidence. The Marquis de Sade was married for 27+ years, himself.

hmmmmm....what's it take for a man to realize he has "gone too far"? And, since men get to arbitrarily decide what's "too far", I guess women are allowed the same luxury??

    Yes, I am ignoring you...

Most of you ladies are correct: You don't think it would be right for your husband to hit you.

Now..................how many of you wouldn't mind getting slapped by Sean?

    Come on now.....

Unhappy Ugly Secret: Domestic Violence within the Church

Tragically, studies reveal that spousal abuse is just as common within the evangelical churches as anywhere else. This means that about 25 percent of Christian homes witness abuse of some kind.
...some of these men, George notes, justify their violence “by citing biblical passages.”

    http://www.breakpoint.org/listingarticle.asp?ID=11650

6,000 pastors were asked how they would counsel women who came to them for help with domestic violence.
Astonishingly, 50 percent said women should be willing to “tolerate some level of violence” because it is better than divorce.

Bres- that last post was weird. any way you try to take it. Do ya think women would tolerate being slapped, depending upon WHO it is, as you suggest? If he's rich or handsome she would likely not *mind* a little violence? As the pastors above suggested, "it's worth the benefits"

The day I hit my wife....should be the day she is arrested for murder.
The problem is that some pastors, even some who love the title "man of God," are not actually a "man of God" at all. That is why these type of problems occur. ~ Pastor Kevin Keever

I wouldn't say murder. Rather, I'd say "may God help you bear your shame, but may it be great enough for repentance."

Verily, hitting your wife is what it takes for some men to realize that he's gone too far.
