Default What happened To Jim Vineyard???

Less than a week ago, I logged onto the website for Windsor Hills Baptist Church & his picture was there. Today, I logged on and it says that his son, Tom, is now the Pastor & the President of the college. When did this all happen...does anyone know??

    Default Jim Vineyard

    Hello Lynnea,
Yes, Dr. Jim Vineyard became rather hill, was hospitalized, Tom had returned and been at WHBC for some time.
There was a letter sent out to many of us maybe 6 weeks ago informing us of this development of Tom becoming pastor.

Perhaps someone out there still possesses a copy and could send it to Lynnea?

By the way, you have a PM from me.

just saw my typo read "hill" rather than "ill"
Certainly do wish Dr Vineyard a recovery and health in his retirement.

Did the Church as a whole have any say in him becoming pastor. Or did Dr. Vineyard dictate to them who could be their pastor.

    Default Tom Vineyard as pastor

There are those out there who certainly can, and it is surprising they have not yet offered explanations on the forum, updating the process that transpired.

However, in all fairness to Dr Vineyard, Tom Vineyard, the deacons of WHBC and the congregation of WHBC, I cannot offer any knowledgeable answer to your question.

Perhaps Jeff Blanchard will choose to reveal the process that was undertaken, but as for me, I am out of the loop.

I heard through an extended "grapevine" that he was ill. He was an assistant pastor in Hammond at FBC when I grew up. I am sorry to hear that he is ill and will keep him in my prayers. Thanks!

Well, I am not for sure where he is or what he is doing but the damage that he has done to others goes on and on. I received another letter on January 10th from a former WHBC employee and missionary telling of the harm from Vineyard. When will it stop?

I hear stories, too. I have made a conscious decision to speak of only what I know directly about a pastor. I knew Dr. Vineyard as a child at First Baptist Church in Hammond and as a college student at OBC. Never have agreed with every facet of his ministry or everything that he believes; nonetheless, I'm really hesitant to ever criticize a pastor. My theory is that God will take care of what needs taking care of much better than I can.

How do you feel about a pastor telling the President of the United States to go to hell?

Just the same as I feel about anyone using the phrase, "Go to Hell." To me, it is a real and literal place & I think it is wrong to make that statement to your worst enemy. I read where Dr. Vineyard said that. You will find, though, that I stick with my original statement which is that I leave those matters up to God. I don't support someone saying something that vicious, nor do I think that it negates every bit of good that person has done. I certainly hope that my life does not come down to a few things that I have done. I hope that, when my life is through, the sum total of it will be considered. Since that is my desire, I am careful to extend that courtesy to others.
