You must try to realize that an atheist or agnostic is usually one who has given much thought to this subject before you ever encounter them.

When you tell them such things as:

    "You hate God"

    "You are totally depraved"

    "You are self centered"

"Actually God has shown his common grace towards you already many times over by not destroying you in His anger and casting you into Hell already."

You must expect an unpleasant reaction.

The other day I had a conversation with one of your "brothers in Christ". Here is what he told me:

"And you know what really eats at you? On the day of judgement when God pours out His Holy, Just and Righteous Wrath on you and casts you into Hell, you will look back on all the mercy and grace that he showed to you while you cursed his name and understand how wrong you were and how holy, just and righteous God is as you bow your knee in horror as the enemy of God and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord and are cast into outer darkness forever. And the entire time you are reaping the fruits of the hatred for God you sowed, you will have to live with the reality of God's glory and how your selfish sin nature bound you up in your sin. You will reap what you sow. God will not be mocked, but he will be eternally praised and receive all the glory for his righteous judgements and his mercy and grace. I hope you confess him as Lord as a child of God's instead of being an enemy of God. . . . You may hate God, but right now he is showing his love and mercy for you by not killing you, by sending one of his children to share the truth of God with you. I hope and pray that one day, you don't look back on this day and see that you spat in the face of God's mercy for the final time."

He was telling me that I hated a being, cursed at a being and spat at a being that I don't even believe exists.

When you go into the conversation talking in a ridiculous manner, you can't expect the other person to be open to you as you continue (after you have insutled them) to say the sutpidest of things.

That is totally true. Only an idiot would come to an athiest or agnostic with such an arrogant attitude. I do not propose to have all the answers for Gringo or other non-Christians, but I respect them enough to treat them with dignity.

Anyone who would cite Ray Comfort in their defence must be a wind-up merchant.

"wind up merchant," now that is funny.

I agree. I did not say I would not warn him. I said I would not come with words of disrespect and antagonism, shooting blanks, so to speak.

Really? So you don't go out preaching because it's a part of your religion's scripture, but out of the goodness of your heart, to tell how we're such hate-filled, degenerate people who hate a being we don't believe in?

I have a day-to-day calendar of Old English words, and today's word is "Holy-Virtuous" which is a play on the phrase "wholly virtuous" having the double meaning of not being "wholly" virtuous, but only doing so to fulfill their religious obligations to seem "holy" unto others.

My friends, if you really cared, you'd talk to us whether people were watching or not. I know it's in the Bible (somewhere) that one who does good works should not seek approval from them, but humbly accept that what they did was the right thing for its own sake, so Matt is Sola scriptura, the more you talk about how much you love us, and how much you go through to try and win the souls of hateful atheists, the more you defy your own holy-book's instructions.

This brings me to the question: If no one knew you were suffering and how much of a "good person" you were because of it, would you still do it, even if it were suffering for goodness' sake?

I see it as a two sided coin....

I think there are some that you need to be sinsitive with them...do it biblically and make sure you are not compromising the gospel for the sake of not offending....for it is not our desire to offend, but often times the gospel does offend.

But I would also like to say that I think there are times that you need to be bold and tell it like it is...pull no punches...

I know of this one time a pastor freind of mine said he was with this one evanglist who was at a tent revival...and across the street was a group of the roughest bikers you ever did see....one of the deacons was also a sheriff and told the evanglisilst that that the tallest guy in the group was the worst of the worst...always fighting and even has hit preachers before. So the evanglist went over to this tall man (mind you this evanglist was not a very tall man and was not at all strong (I know the evanglist as well...just not at this time)....but any how he went over there to that man and told him "if you keep living this way your going to go strait to Hell and if your freinds don't get saved there going to be riding with you down to hell as well,...what you need is Jesus" Well the group started laughing at him and told him to leave....a few min later all the group left on there bikes except that tall biker...sure enough He came over to the evanglist and said "I have never had any one to have the guts to come to me and tell me what you just said...and if a guy like you can come up to a guy like me and talk that way...then Mr. there is something you got that I need...I want to know more about this Jesus...

Sometimes being strait forward is the way to go...just depends on what the Spirit is moving you to say.

I will say that sometimes what is more offensive is not the way the message is presented...but the message it self....

To be expected to believe something so ludicrious and condemn me if I don't, is most definitely offensive (to me).

And to heap on top of that, an insulting, obnoxious, arrogant person, makes it all the more difficult.

Unfortunately, sir, the reality of the matter is that the only time "the spirt" is going to move you, is if you've had one too many of them.
