I noticed in the BJU forum you were there from 92-96. I was there from 91-95, but I couldnt respond in the thread because for some reason my password reset has banished me to posting only in the non-believers forum until I can get a moderator to fix the problem.

I'll tell you this, this forum and this selection of people have seriously made me look deep inside to see just exactly what it is I believe about things - I take nothing at face value any longer. I have had great reason to think deeply and introspectively and to settle some things I'd taken for granted. You might find it an unsettling process as I did, or you may be so grounded that this place only serves to reinforce what you already believe. I know this about you already - you are tender-hearted while being strong, you are kind while being firm, and you aren't a pansy. I think if you hang around a little more and get your bearings, you'll discover that you actually enjoy the give and take around here. I hope you'll stay - I can use all the friends I can get. :-)
As you read through the boards, you will see the folks it is 'safe' to have a conversation with, and those you should probably just avoid. Mike is usually quite quiet and regular, but you may have pushed a personal button. I have learned quickly that much of what I assumed about people has been proven false here. I try to have no assumptions, but that's nearly impossible. Like you, when I began, there were a couple of people who almost brought me to tears. I took a brief respite (oh, of about a couple hours! lol) and came back. There were so many people who befriended me, it was worth staying just to converse with them. You'll usually find a lot of good-natured folks in the Fellowship part of this forum, too. The unbelievers forum will break your heart, although, I have made one lifelong friend there - Gringo. Trust me, there are some real genuine and kind folks here - they outnumber the oddballs. :-)
We're glad you're here! If someone harrasses you, don't get discouraged. You seem level-headed and clear-thinking and honestly, that's going to bug some people. lol
