But oh how I loved ZWEIGS at the other end of Main Street!! Their broasted chicked/taters was the best in town. Few students had cars so it was a long walk, but did it often. When my family visited for a Sunday to see what had happened to their wayward son (who had left college to help start MBBC) that was the restaurant of choice!
The next year as a grad student I worked at Hartwig Slaughter House in J'son Creek from 7pm-1 or 2am shoveling blood (another story). Turn the Rambler toward W'town (it knew the way so I could just about sleep) and hit Zweig's for a burger/onions/butter bun before home. And since I stunk of rotting turkey/chicken anyway when I got home, the bride didn't mind onion-breath . . especially if I brought one for her!!
Now there is the Pine Cone, Perkins, Applebees, Pizza Hut et al, KFC, Fast food gallore, Steak Fire, and many more. Of course, I enjoy eating on campus - think the food is outstinkingstanding for college cuisine - but at least ONCE A YEAR I need a greasy fix from Zweig's
I won't be back until 2 weeks in March, but that will give me many opportunities to "fulfill" my munchy memories . . .
How 'bout you all?
