You know Tony, perhaps somebody sent your name and address down to Mickey Carter along with some story that you were some sort of backslid preacher out of the will of God and that perhaps they could get you back on the "Straight and Narrow" again! Perhaps they simply went with the information they had and were sincerely trying to help you and didn't realize someone gave them a skewed representation of who, where, and what you actually are?
I remember getting such referrals all the time and in many cases, the actual situation did not match up with what I was told!
If you are really bothered about it, perhaps you could contact Bro. Carter via Email or something. Let him get to know the REAL Bro. Tony!
They probably did, Ray, and I think I know whom that person would have been if it were so. Possibly Steve, Becky's ex. It sounds exactly like something he would do.

I had never had any contact with Landmark. I know we joined the SBC in either 2002 or 2003. It wasn't long afterwards that I received a letter and a pack full of "tracts" from the church. At the present, I don't have access to the packet, as it is still out in the garage and locked in a file cabinet underneath a ton of things we have yet to unpack from our move last December. My wife said it was indeed signed by Mickey Carter. I thought it was, too. Whether Mr. Carter sent it or not is not my problem. The problem was indeed that they were concerned for me since I had left the Independent Fundamental Baptist movement. It really did bother me then, and it bothers me now. The arrogance of the IFBx sect will be the ruin of them, and a definite detriment to the cause of Christ.
Oh, and I did ask them to not send me any more things, jm. I called them and let them know I "appreciated their input", but wasn't interested in their materials.
I don't think Brother Tony is very far off here. Attitudes like that do exist among some IFB. Very disturbing but true.
In my own experience, I have run across a Crown student or two (I just remember one right now) that implied that a SBC church was not a New Testament church. Some of them even acted like I was not regenerate or a "baby Christian" for going to the University of Tennessee. What made this even more ridiculous from my point of view was that I used to be a dorm judicial board chairman at a prominent SBC university.

Sorry, I gotta agree here. NOBODY that goes to UT is regenerate.
ROLL TIDE!!!

Whether Carter was personally responsible for the sending of an individual packet or not, he is very responsible for the attitudes that he breeds at both his church and college. Motlow, you think that an implication that a SBC church is not NT, check this out: The reason for my leaving LBC was that, after trying to help a struggling IFB church on the outskirts of Haines City, I was called the "worst possible type of hypocrite" by the dean for trying to (his words) "help a competing church". IFB, remember! He then went on to say that LBC was the only "God-ordained church" for the Haines City area! Of course, he meant "white God-ordained church", because they affiliate with and help a black Haines City church. How's that for IFB arrogance?
A Presbyterian minister friend of mine said this to me: "Brother, I'm fighting crazies on the left, and you're fighting crazies on the right!" Ain't that the truth......

Ahhh nevermind... you are talking about the Spanish Church aren't you?
That's a whole nother story.... You want to talk about it? No problem but be ready to have the other side of the story told as well.
No, Tina, I am not referring to the Spanish church. I came to LBC after that whole deal, and to be honest, I really don't know enough about it to have an opinion.
I am referring to another church. I would prefer to keep their name out of it, but they are IFB, KJV, etc etc. They merely encroached upon the boundaries of the Papal State of Haines City.
