The music is there. That is really beautiful (and I know very little ASL).

Ronnie Rice preaches at Bill Rice Ranch each year. My ex (Tami) was just learning sign language but the way Ronnie signs, it is really obvious what he is saying. He is THAT good.

The problem with some deaf is they dont realize that hearing people who know NO sign language at all can understand what they are saying. One of the smarter ones had brought a low-verbal deaf guy with him to buy something. they were standing in line, and there was a tabloid with a picture of Monica Lewinsky on the cover, and the low-verbal guy pointed to it, and signed something to the other guy, which was obvious to the hearing people around.

"Slap him in the head!" yelled one woman at my friend, who did just that. The other one said, "What you hit me for, those people dont know sign language"

    Very obvious signs.

If you want to see the amateur version, and the way a hearing person signs it, there are plenty of videos on Youtube of hearing people and some deaf even, who are signing it straight English. Watch.....

As good a job as the fellow did (very lyrical and flowing interpretation) it just made me thankful for the great blessing of hearing.

The music, the harmony added with two on the second verse and three on the last verse, the building crescendo - you can't "sign" that.

It would be akin to sitting on the deck and explaining to a blind man the beauty of a sunset. All the right "words' can never replace a single image.

Why God gifted me with sight and hearing is another miracle of His grace.
Jesus knows me, this I love.

I would really enjoy learning to sign and sign well. I'm just not sure what I would do with that particular skill.

The music was playing, but it was barely understandable to me. Sometimes I was able to hear/understand it, sometimes it was just noise. I understood part of what the fellow signed, but some of the signs that I was able to recognize were different than what I was taught.

Yeah, straight SEE. That was how I learned the basics of sign language, SEE. My grandma was deaf, but she went deaf as a teenager, and read lips extremely well, so she kind of used a mix of ASL and SEE. I didn't understand ASL deaf until I had been in college for a little bit, and hung out in the deaf ministry there. I don't remember enough words anymore to carry on an intelligent conversation with a deaf person.
