Looks like Corle took some Biblically appropriate steps:

"Among those arrested for public nuisance was Don Corley, 70, a pastor at Bible Baptist Shepherd Church. His family said in a statement that they are devastated by "the sin which has come to light."

"We acknowledge that our father and grandfather lived a double life. He has accepted the responsibility for his actions and has confessed his sin to God and his family. In light of the severity of his actions, he has resigned from his responsibilities at Bible Baptist Shepherd," the statement read."*

He left the ministry. Yes, it is shocking that a pastor was gay for so many years, possibly lusting after boys. Then again, he left the ministry though it is unclear if he has placed himself under church discipline.

I'm certainly IFB, maybe even a little bit of an X'er, but fortunately, due to my remote location, I don't much keep up with most of the "big names"-maybe a good thing, in some cases! Still, we should pray for him to get right, as well as take heed unto ourselves, lest we fall into sin as well.

Since Eb is not feeling well, I will fill in for him and some of our favorite kool aid drinkers:

    Did you see it happen?
Do you know someone who did?
Whoever saw it is probably lying.
    Everyone blames the managawd.
The press is always out to get us. They never tell the truth.
It is not only the IFB's that molest children, the Catholics do it too.
If they were stricter on these kids, this wouldn't have happened.
    See what CCM leads to.

Seriously, hope you are feeling better Eb, praying for you and the family my friend.

I am sure you did not intentionally mean to forget to call for a prayer for the victims.

From what I read, there were no specific 'vicitms' mentioned, except maybe those who 'saw' them while walking by-does that make one a victim? He wasn't arrested for molesting a child, but because he was doing nasty things with other men in a public place, which I certainly don't condone. In fact, it was said in the article that if they had done it in a home, there would have been no problem.

This being said, if anyone was traumatized by it, or victimized, certainly they are in need of prayer, as well, as is this preacher's church members-they'll need prayer, also.

I hope he does not attempt to go back into ministry.

This reminds me of Bob Gray a bit. He spends his lifetime behind a pulpit and does horrific things in his spare time...another pastor with a Dr. Jeckyl/Mr. Hyde double life.

Scary to think how many more must be out there...

Added: His entire "christian cowboy" schtick makes wonder about the boy attraction thing (in retrospect)...I hope there are no molestation victims out there...

This really is sad. I don't know a whole lot of the "big names" in IFB, but I did attend TN Temple through highschool. Don Corley came by when I was in elementary school. It must have made an impression, because I remember it well (I am sure he was at most of the missionary conferences while I was there). Anyway, he and others dressed up in western gear and sang.

I have known Ron and Don Corle since 1965. Been in their home. Helped construct the church in Bloomfield and preached at the one in Farmington. And a good friend of mine married his daughter and has labored faithfully with the Navajo at Bible Baptist Shepherd Mission for decades.

This is far more personal and grievous to me than any here will know.
Jesus knows me, this I love.

    Sorry, Dr. Bob.

Now that you mention both Ron and Don, there were two of them I think....maybe a brother "act". They sang...probably gave the class items to remember their visit. I remember they also sang on the HPBC stage during the missionary conference too.

Wierd the things that you remember from your childhood.
