but I thought it was the Auca indians. Valerie considers her childhood among the indian "idyllic".
Auca is the name used by neighboring tribes that literally means "naked one" or "savages". Waodani is the name they call themselves.

I've had a facination with this story since the moment I heard it. If a person has ever doubted God's will in their life they need to hear this story.

I don't go to public beaches or public pools. Don't have a problem with swimming around family or all girls...my kids LOVE to swim. We do it all the time! Nothing better than lots of water on a hot day!

Most of you had a problem with my saying that we are to obstain from the appearance of evil. I meant by that that it does not look good for a Christian to be seen around people that are naked...which is what you are when you are wearing a swiming suit!!! I am not arguing...this is my opinion.

When I lived in Panama we went swimming all the time. I would go with friends (no boys) or family. It was so easy to find beaches, lots of them, without anyone around. The water was so clear that you could wade out to your neck and still see your feet...which was a good thing because there were suposedly jelly fish...although I never say any. It was awesome!!! Beautiful! I love the water. And I love a good sun tan too! Hows that for a "crownie" Motlow???

I've not made it through very many of these posts but the problem with this type of argument is that no one else sees this as evil accept the ones who preach and teach against it.

We went to one of those indoor water parks a couple years ago and my children had a blast. They still talk about how much fun it was and it's been a highlight that they remember. Great family fun. I was pregnant and wore a maternity suit. I think there are all kinds of swimsuits out there that are good choices...it's not like you have to wear a string bikini. You can choose good family orienated places and it's not like every public swimming place looks like they are filming for MTV.

Good points! It's been my experience that most women in bikinis have no business being in a bikini anyway, know what I'm sayin'?

Not that I think anyone should wear a bikini mind you. =o)

It seems to me that to some Christians sex is the logical outcome of every thing. It's the worst of the worst sin they can think of and everything leads to it. Music leads to it, dancing leads to it, mixed bathing (I always thought that was two to a tub) leads to it, IBC Root Beer leads to it. (Haha! Just thought I'd throw that one in there.) I realize that fornication runs rampent in our society but I promise you it isn't because of the local swimming hole. Unless you're skinny dipping at night and you're 16...at least that's what I heard from the big kids.

So, you don't swim? Or you swim in enough clothing that when your wet you could barely save yourself because it weighs as much as you do?

What difference does it make? By the time he crawls out of the water his clothes will be sticking so close to him you'll see everything anyway. Again I say...

Interesting. I wouldn't wear my running clothes--well, pretend I ran, and had a similar track outfit--except for running, because that's what it's made for.

I have church clothes for church, and shopping clothes, and work clothes, and swim clothes.

    What do you wear swimming?

    .

Isn't having a smoking section in a restaurant like having a peeing section in the swimming pool?
