    Default John MacArthur

I was a Ministry student back in college. As a result I had to give many presentations, and teach many times. I never took any preaching courses, but I took plenty of teaching courses.

Since I am influenced by Reformed Theology which I find to be more Biblical than Armenian (SP) Theology.

Many times I would quote MacArthur materials in my presentations, but I also would quote David Jeremiah, among others. However people always remembered MacArthur and forgot the others. I could quote David Jeremiah 10 times, and MacArthur only once, and they would come back and accuse me of using only MacArthur which was a lie. I could send them my notes, and they could never defend their accusations after that.

But it makes me wonder and think about something.

I think that MacArthur has a very bad reputation among Contemporary Evangelicals, Charismatics, Pentecostals, and Hyper Fundamentalists, among others. His book Charismatic Chaos, The Gospel According to Jesus, Hard to Believe, Ashamed of the Gospel, Reckless Faith, among others seems to have caused Division in the church. Thats why people remember him, but forget my other sources.

Once a KJVO female pastors wife accused my web ministry as being filled with MacArthur foolishness, but this was not true, and after I asked her for specifics to her foolish accusations,s he went silent.

No question God has used him in a great way in my life, but he is only one of many that have helped me. But he seems to have the worst reputation of the bunch. David Jeremiah, Chuck Swindall, among others are not remembered, but MacArthur is.

What are your thoughts on him? I agree with 95% of his Biblical teaching.

I dont agree with Lordship Salvation. I agree with Progressive Sanctification.

But no question MacArthur is strongly disliked among many Christian circles.

That may be a sign that he is boldly standing for God's Holy Word.

Although I don't agree with his Lordship Salvation (or at least how he words it), how does he not believe in eternal security?

Read the study notes in his study bible. It's all there.

Specify where. Last I knew he believed in eternal security. Back it up or take it back.
If Costco is just a grocery store on steroids, then Wal-Mart is just a 7-Eleven with type 2 diabetes.

I no longer have that study bible. I know a IFB pastor that does. I will call him and see if he can give me the exact page numbers/references.

Let me know when you have it. In the meantime, feel free to read this by MacArthur.
"The Eternal Security of the Christian"

Everything I've read by MacArthur, he believes in Eternal Security. You must have misread something.
