Hi guys,

I'm looking to study for the ministry overseas in the states. My country has no sound colleges (that I know of) that I would agree with doctrinally or would pay money to attend.

I'm looking for a college that is;

a) fundamental (or conservative evangelical, which at times I believe is closer to historic fundamentalism),
b) Not opposed to the doctrines of grace
c) heavy on expository, exegitical preaching
d) has experienced faculty
e) I prefer a school that would be more dispensationally-inclined, at least concerning eschatology (premillenialism)

Thanks for your help.

I know this is old but it is still funny.

Who's smarter...a southern redneck or a Smart New York City lawyer?

The lawyer and a redneck are sitting next to each other on a long flight. The lawyer asks if the redneck would like to play a fun game. The redneck is tired and just wants to take a nap, so he politely declines and tries to catch a few winks.

The lawyer persists, that the game is a lot of fun. "I ask you a question, and if you don't know the answer, you pay me only $5; you ask me one, and if I don't know the answer, I will pay you $500.

This catches the redneck's attention and to keep the lawyer quiet, agrees to play the game.

The lawyer asks the first question. "What's the distance from the earth to the moon?" The redneck doesn't say a word, reaches in his pocket pulls out a five-dollar bill, and hands it to the lawyer.

Now, it's the redneck's turn. He asks the lawyer, "What goes up a hill with three legs, and comes down with four?"

The lawyer uses his laptop, searches all references. He uses the Air phone; he searches the Net and even the Library of Congress. He sends e-mails to all the smart friends he knows, all to no avail. After one hour of searching he finally gives up. He wakes up the redneck and hands him $500. The redneck pockets the $500 goes right back to sleep.

The lawyer is going nuts not knowing the answer. He wakes the redneck up and asks, "Well, so what goes up a hill with three legs and comes down with four?"

The redneck reaches in his pocket, hands the lawyer $5 and goes back to sleep.

I know you won't see this till tomorrow Garfield, so, Happy Birthday Garfield.

HOPE THIS ISN'T TOO LONG OF A STORY.

I just took a new position in the ministry that allows me to be off on my wifes b-day, 11/11. We had already had 18 years of marriage.

I had been at my new job for about eight months. After many years of 70-80 hour work weeks.

I told her that I would take the day off in celebration of her b-day and that it would be no problem with my new job.

She was elated!

Never before had I done such a great act of kindness for her on her b-day!

I took the day off. We did a few things together. You know, she was feeling great.

Never before had I taken a day off just for her b-day.

Just a few short weeks later, we went to be with my family for Thanksgiving.

My dad asked her, at the Thanksgiving table, "How do you like your hubbys new job?"

He too, along with my brother, had 11/11 off every year, for the last 10 years, mind you.

She said, "He is home everyday to take everyone to the pool, beach and sometimes out to eat." Things we were never able to do before. She went out of her way to tell my father, "I had even taken off for her b-day," and how special that was to her.

O boy, my brother looked up in shock.

He asked her, "Hey, When is your b-day?" after my family gushed at my thoughtfulness for taking off for her b-day, she answered joyfully, "Nov. 11th!"

"O really?" he quipped, "That is a holiday every year for your husband at his new job."

You could've heard a mouse fart in the room of about 20 people.

Needless to say, I was out of gas, bigtime.

I went from HERO to zero.

O well, I am taking tomorrow off again, for the 8th straight year, in memory of her b-day.

She will be at Disney with my oldest son.

I'll be doing dishes, and laundry if possible.

Phebe, see you in AutoZone.

He sends you flowers every spring, and a sunrise every morning. Whenever you want to talk, He'll listen. He could live anywhere in the universe, and He chose your heart.

If you were to recommend one book... other than the Bible... what would it be? What book had the biggest impact or taught you the most profound truth... or just simply blessed your heart more than any other book?

I want to know. I want to dedicate some time to reading and what better way to pick out a few books than to ask my friends on the FFF for some suggestions?

Feel free to add a line or two as to why you are recommending it. If someone lists one that you were going to list... tell me that too. It will just add to the positive review if a book is recommended by multiple posters.
