I was a student at TTU when Greater Vision came. They were there for Southwide, and MANY IFB preachers were there.

Also, I brought our church teenagers to the IMPACT Youth Conference last year. The colleges that were represented were Crown College, Trinity Jacksonville, and Champion Baptist. The main singing group, like this year, was the Ball Brothers...........and the main speakers........Steve Roberson and Eric Capaci.

    BTW...it was GREAT!

If someone wants to get upset or offended about what we do they need to just be thankful that our movement is governed by local autonomy and not by a hierarchy. If you want to invite GV then fine, and if you don't that's your church. I will guarantee you this; Bro Eric would NEVER criticize a ministry for NOT having GV, while many would feel obliged to let him have it for having them.
    Culturally irrelevant?
I spent 7.5 years at Foothill Baptist Church in Moreno Valley, CA in the 90's up til 2002.
Our music program was much like FBC Hammond with a little more Southern Gospel influence in the quartets and choir numbers.
However, the music we sang was not 'culturally relevant' for California.
We didn't sing choruses, or bring in famous bands.
Harvest Ministry and Calvary Chapel were right down the road, but we never tried to pattern our program to become like them.
Our numbers were huge back in those days.
I worked at Randy Tewell's church for 3 years and his church grew from 170 when I got there to 550 a week when I left in 05.
And I was the music director.
Again, no famous bands. We did have the Ball family and the Epley's, that's it.
Bro. Tewell's church now runs in the 750 range, and they haven't changed their music standards since I left.
Please don't tell me that you need to be culturally relevant or face extinction.

To be culturally relevant means (to me) to effectively communicate to those you want to reach. The style of worship and music is most often what is discussed, but it can and should involve also the way we teach, preach, disciple and evangelize, etc.
Churches with more traditional music can be relevant if they have a passion to reach people where they are. More contemporary churches have decided they want to reach a more contemporary-minded population. Music style will always draw those who have a taste for it!!
If a church is teaching biblical doctrine, a clear gospel and making followers of Jesus Christ- let God's work be done! Praise God, we can all do a work in our own way as we are led by God.

Ok so my question is, so what, if other churches dont like GLBC having GV??? Why are they worrying about GLBC? DO they not have members and people to worry about??? Do you think not likin it is gonna change Bro. Erics mind?? lol They hosted the concert on a saturday not on a Sunday, whats the big deal??? Because so and so doesnt think you should have GV means every church in AMerica has to think the same thing??? Independent Baptist....i say worry about your church and your people..and let GLBC worry about theirs!!!

Even though their values and standards have diminished, HPBC and their radio station, WDYN, is still making a strong impact for Christ in the Chatt. area.

Also, the newest trio member for Greater Vision is a recent graduate from Gaylord, Michigan's Christian college. It will be good to see some positive news coming towards Independent Baptists. (Greater Vision has quite a nationwide following.)
