I posted an article on my blog about a week ago, and I want some feedback. Do you think that it's Scriptural, and if not why? I'm looking for debate in search of the truth.

I believe so. Here's a quote from the article I wrote on that verse.
Quote:
Romans 10:9-10 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Notice that it says that in order to be saved you must confess, AND believe. The same can be said of getting baptized. Jesus said in Mark 16:16, “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” Does this say that if you're not baptized, you'll go to hell, or that you get baptized without believing you go to heaven? The answer to both of those questions is no. Romans 10:9 makes the same kind of statement. It does NOT say that those who confess with their mouth the Lord Jesus will be saved, just as Jesus did not say that those who are baptized will be saved.

Souls are converted by grace trough faith. The sinners prayer is a tool that some use. The prayer doesn't save.

Ok. What's the purpose of the tool then, because I've seen it being used as a tool of Satan in my soul-winning experiences. I can't tell you how many people I've talked to who thought they were going to heaven because they said a prayer. Not saying that it's wrong to use a sinner's prayer, but it seems to have gotten out of hand.

Very true. There is a lot of "evangelism" that is out when true conversion isn't taking place. You usually see this around people who make large claims on conversions. They get a person to say some quick prayer and that's it. Nowhere in Scripture is a verse that says to pray a prayer to be save. It says to believe. Anybody can repeat some words out.

Thanks for your response. I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees that. It's a very tragic thing. What are we going to say when we meet God?
