Though no known antagonism toward minorities or expressions of racism on a personal level have ever been tolerated on our campus, we allowed institutional policies to remain in place that were racially hurtful.

Reading Sly's post, BJU's racial view in 1971 was both institutional and individuals based. Glad to see the school changed their policy allow blacks in the school.

Do you suppose the internet petition of graduates had anything to do with this?

As one who was there from 78 to 82 I heard the "sermon" in chapel. Thirty years later I am so very glad to read their statement. In all honesty, I never thought they would issue such a thing. Sad thing though. If you do a google search the news of this is nowhere to be found. This is bigger and more important than the Chris Sligh thread or the BJU rules thread.

This shows me that Stephen Jones may just have a heart and also may have a brain in his head.

To me this is truly momentus.

We are down in Greenville this weekend...it is all over the local news.
