But all the 'leg work' without Holy Spirit illumination is simply of the flesh.

Any verse that you believe conveys the idea "Part of His illumination is the interpreter doing the leg work of Bible study"

Tis fine. Readers of your posts know that you drop away before any substance is reached in almost every discussion. You start with a type of hopeful dialog and then get mired and confused and withdraw. No loss.

Wow!!! What an amazingly arrogant/ignorant statement!

Avery now reveals why he has so many of us on ignore.

Absolutely agree. I am sure that Timotheos agrees too.
The Holy Spirit uses the study of His Word.
The Bereans went home to check with the Word what Paul preached to them.
This verification was the "leg work," but their acceptance of the Word would only come through Holy Spirit illumination.

As a believer, it is impossible to separate the two. I cannot find a place where my study resulted in no Holy Spirit illumination. Even the smallest "nugget of truth" is made significant by the Holy Spirit. Viewed from the other direction, a person will not get the significance of the Word without first studying the Word.

    Agreed... well said
