Default Change the name of the school - any suggestions?

Baptist Bible College is a lame name for a school. I suggest that they change the name of the school. Names like Cornerstone and Crown are equally lame and dated.

My suggestion is VICK COLLEGE. Any others?

Default Leave the name the same!

    In my honest opinion.

REASON 1: The name of the school implies that the school is a Baptist school that believes the Bible thus the name Baptist Bible College. Not a reason to change the name.

REASON 2: It would cost mega bucks whether the economic times are good or bad. If you change the name, you have the change anything that has Baptist Bible College on in whether it be letterhead, buildings, advertising, etc.

REASON 3: How would this affect the Baptist Bible Fellowship International Mission Board? BBFI has thousands of missionaries that that would feel the effects of this change. Not only would they have to change their missionary displays but on the foreign field they would have to change many legal papers that allow them to be missionaries in their chosen countries.

First - the school is approaching failure. It needs change.

Second - the name is lame.

Third - they need a new image and outreach if they are going to survive.

Fourth - The BBFI doesn't have to change it's name or the mission board just the school. BBFI and Missions board has more than one school already.

Dr. Vick was the founder. It's not a Fundamentalist style school anymore so why not honor their past and move forward all in one move. Worked for Grand Rapids Baptist Bible College or whatever Cornerstone use to be.

What they are doing isn't working. One foot in contemporary and one foot in Fundamentalism. Don't back the loser of the two and just go full out.

It was Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music. I think it was essentially gone by the late '80s- someone correct me here. Many of the people who returned home and took over the church I grew up in went to that school.

The school I went to switched from Bible College to Christian College while I was attending, to better reflect their curriculum. It had previously been a Bible Institute, and before that, a Christian Training School.

While I may not agree with its direction. While it is over run with debt. It is what it is. BBC is BBC. It is not about marketing. That is what is wrong with Christianity as a whole and the Rick Warren ideology-marketing. Christianity is about truth. Jesus said the truth will make you free- not marketing. Tennessee Temple has changed its direction. Liberty has changed its direction. Cedarville has changed its direction. Every institution has reflected change over its life. Harvard and Yale were once institutions of Pastoral training. Leave it alone. BBC is not about Forbes top 100 it is an educational facility.

And that is why it will close. Leave it alone and say goodbye. BBC has changed in many ways in the last 15 years. But either go full force Fundamentalist like the Davidson crowd or get with the times and drop old baggage. The school has no identity. It's to Fundy for me and it's to Contemporary for others. Stand in the middle of the road and the result you get run over.

The school Baptist Bible College will die. What will be left is the issue. It's 2009 and it's time to fully change.

Warren, Cedarville, TTU and Liberty will still be here will BBC?

Also, what's wrong with "Marketing"? The school does it now. Website, college days, summer travel groups, school Chaplin speaking at camps, etc...
They market as much as anyone! It's what they are marketing that matters.

Not sure what Warren is... TTU is a shell of itself- is hoping an influx of the Liberty South mentality and Southern Baptist money can save the day. Liberty and Cedarville long ago left any semblance of a Christian school and placed their eggs in the Liberal Arts. To say it is too Fundy for you means to me you must be way out.

For what it is worth- if a Bible College is to exist in this political and economic climate it must divide itself. By that I mean that for BBC to stay alive they should consider becoming the Mother school and having several schools in different regions. Almost like a franchise.

The school long ago became nothing more than the foundation for the largest non denomination denomination in the world- the BBF. A political machine than runs very nearly like the Methodists.

If it dies-and it is on life support- only those who crave power would be notice.
