View Full Version : Guilty as Charged!
Kevin Keever 01-24-2007, 02:16 PM I hate to admit it, but I did this one and deserved what I got! :-)
One day, Joe K. had offered to share some peanut butter with me. We were having sandwiches or something and he shared and told me I could have some of his peanut butter. I took what I needed for my sandwich and a little more to snack on. All was good.
A few days later, Manny T. and I had just returned for bus route or something like that and had bought some "World's Finnest Chocolate" bars from an LCA student on our route. We sat in the lobby of the gym/dorm and ate our candy, but without some "dip." I can't eat WFC w/o peanut butter and I remembered that Joe had told me I could have some of his jar, so I went up and got it! Manny and I had a great time and a better treat!
Well, I put back the now almost empty jar and went on with life. On Monday, I was called in the college office. I was handed an empty jar of JIF and asked again, "What is this?" Uh, a pineapple! Inside Joke! I defended myself with the fact that Joe had told me that I could have some, but to my shagrin (sp), Joe was also there. He said, "Yeah, but not the whole jar!" :-) He was right; I had taken advantage of his kindness and I was wrong. I can't remember what happened, but I am sure I got a few demerits or something. :-)
I still wish that Dr. J had just come to me and asked me about the jar. I would have admitted my wrong and bought him a new jar of peanut butter.
Oh well. The stinkin' WFC was really good with that JIF spread all over it!
Sorry Joe! No hard feelings!
Take care ya'll.

I don't understand, the concept of grown people telling on one another. I read all these stories about everyone going to tell the preacher.
How do these people make it in a real job or whatever, when they are gone from there. They gonna tell their Mom...
Martin Luther Hyles 01-24-2007, 08:31 PM Notice how Keever seems lost to the reality you have just pointed out. There is a logical disconnect in all of Keever's thinking. Anybody notice this. I'm pull out my logic textbook and try to pinpoint his exact mental deficiency.

None of these people will ever have REAL jobs. Their "degrees" are worthless. They are only good for working at IBFx churches/schools where everyone runs around telling on each other! If they do get jobs in the REAL world, they are either the biggest brown-noser that you will ever meet. Or if they manage to keep a job in a normal workplace, they continually complaing about all of the wicked people that they work with.

Ted,
You know that I respect you. You also know that I am an average thinker, but sometimes I read your posts and really think to myself

movin'on 01-25-2007, 01:30 PM Bro. J is now on staff at TBC/LBT/LCA/LBA, he is the principal of the bus kids school. The bigger the tattler and brown noser you are at TBC the more likely you will be put on staff.
Tattling over a jar of peanut butter, what is this world coming to?---tell me Kevin what lesson did you learn from the altercation?--what was it that enriched your life--made you a better person?
To me the staff seemed to enjoy provoking the college students.
bestoflife 01-25-2007, 03:09 PM I have four kids, 18, 16, 14, and 10. Guess who does the tattleing? One guess, and three don't count. And it aint the 18 year old. :p

Toaster,
Got to disagree with you just a little. :-) I don't know about Joe and Lance, but I did get a real job in Charlotte and after 14 months there, I was able to be promoted. When that happened, they wanted people who had college educations. I thought that it was pointless to mention my unaccredited Bible college degree since the boss (and interviewer) had an MBA from Mississippi State and was likely looking for people with similar, or at least some- what related, educations. However, I had prayed long and hard about that position, and I decided that God had called me to TBC and that he know what was best for me at that job so I should stand tall and be proud of the degree that I did have. Guess what! They not only recognized and accepted it as valid, but they also hired me and increased my salary by about $12K! I worked in that new position for 3 and 1/2 years before leaving GM/OnStar's service provider Convergys Corporation. I loved that job and it was a great 5 years! Never wanted to leave there until I was able to get back into what God had planned all along and that is what I am doing now.

I think you are right. I went to another IFBx school and "worked" my way through. I paid all my bills on time which meant I sometimes did not have personal money, even for haircuts. As a result, my hair grew and touched the top of my ears. We were having school pictures made for the yearbook. The Dean of men met me in the hall with a big smile on his face and said "Since you refuse to live by the standards of this school, you will not have your picture made along with your classmates. A blank space will be in the yearbook next to your name with "Photo unavailable" next to it.

UHHHH, "WHAT?"
You're a dope. I am not lost to anything and the response wasn't even pointing out any clear reality! I didn't understand the adults telling on one another either. I was just telling a story Ted, not stating that this was acceptable behavior. I am not logically disconnected at all.
Movin'on asked what I learned from this incident. I learned MUCH. One thing I learned was balance. All Joe had to do was come to me. Best of life, it wasn't about running to "preacher." Joe didn't tell Gray; the dean did! Joe was just not going to come to me about it, which I wish he had done, then we could have worked it out without the immaturity!
Ted, while you are "pull out" your logic textbook, grab your spelling one as well! We all make mistakes with the haste in which we often post, but if your going to dog me for being logically disconnected and unrealistic at least spell your bash correctly! :-)
You've been stiffin' trash too long!

I am glad that things worked out for you. But, for me and many like me, I can not even subsitute teach in a public school classroom. My "degree" is totally worthless in the real world. The job that I have now, is totally unrelated to what I studied in college. And the fact that I have finished college, unaccredited or not, will not help me advance.:(
As far as others in the "real" work place, I will conceed that many are not the brown nosing / tattling kind. But the ones that are, stand out so clearly in my mind, that all the others seem to fade away.:o
Kevin Keever 01-25-2007, 07:21 PM I know what you mean. At OnStar, we had a couple of major incidents when one manager or another told on someone else much like the senarios I mentioned. The upper management fired the person who was guilty of the infraction AND the manager who tattled because that manager was so far in someone else's business. From my experience (I know it isn't true in every case, but from my jobs) the tattlers DID NOT advance but rather suffered along with the one they were telling on! :-) It absolutely doesn't work in the real business world. :-)
I need to make it clear that I am not mad at Lance, Joe, Doc, or even Gray for preaching at me in both cases. I just didn't understand the whole tattling thing. I do know! If Lance was trying to help me spiritually, he went about it wrong - I had nothing to do with CCM so getting in trouble for it was irrelevant for me.
:-)

I wasn't really aiming this at you, just used your post to quote, because it touched the subject of the tattling. Just really saying, ehe Bible says to go to someone, not tell someone, and then they, well you know what I mean. :)

Do you think the atmosphere of the school and church was such that Lance thought he was helping you by tattling? Do you believe that tattling was more encouraged or discouraged there? When the preacher shares information from the pulpit that was given to him by someone tattling, it seems obvious that tattling could be seen as a way to gain favor, or at least sanctioned by the authority.
I saw enough of that mindset you-know-where. It's about control, it's about being a busybody, it's about trying to make yourself look better by pointing out the faults of others. One thing I DON'T see it as being about is helping or lifting up a brother or sister that may have stumbled.

Amen!!!
Martin Luther Hyles 01-28-2007, 09:49 AM No matter how mean I am to Kevin, he still turns it around and recasts it to something like, "Oh Ted, yeah you can call me a serial killer. Maybe you are one too, but that's ok. I know Preacher murdered hitchhikers but I'm ok with it. And yeah Ted, I'm ok with everything you said because I still want to be your friend, and I still want to be Preacher's friend. And I'm still loyal to everybody. And whenever I'm around normal people I try to fit in, and whenever I'm around serial killers, I try to fit in and be friendly and talk about all the good times we had at serial killer school in Longview and rapist school in Pensacola, but it's all good because we all love the Lord. And Marty runs a great ministry here and lets me work with the kids teaching them to be gypsies and carnies so they can trave in RVs with rides and circus acts and steal from people."
So where does Keever outlet his anger and rage. I mean, I try to ruffle his feathers and he always backs away.
Kevin Keever 04-19-2008, 12:14 AM Ted, you truly are an idiot! Did you know that? :)
You are right though. I'm not going to outlet my anger or rage on you. I'd rather do that at a batting cage or live bp at an NABACharlotte practice...I have found an all wood bat league near here in Rome, NY but haven't gotten in yet...give me time. You can call me all you want, but I did have a good time at PCC and a better time at TBC. Pardon the heck out of me for trying to be a good Christian and not getting mad at you for calling me whatever it was you called me or what you said. :) I'd rather give you my coat than outlet my rage on you. You got enough going on to be in an online fight with me. Just because you left LBT and didn't like it there doesn't mean Dr. Gray is bad or that I'm going to lamblast you. I'd rather pray for you! :) Don't mind do you?
Take care Ted.

WhatABlessing 04-19-2008, 09:23 PM Yes, it's true! A TBC degree could be worthless most places, but if you were there for most of the years they were around, the TBC degree stands for A LOT OF HARD WORK!!!! My wife and I both have benefited from ours in places outside of any church because people want character in their employees. In the end, it's not so much the piece of paper, it's the character. And if my info is right, didn't at least one of you who is trashing the degrees these people have graduate or have family who went to TBC at one time, and maybe even teach or sub at LCA for a short time? Did you brown nose to get that sweet spot doing that? And in reference to Joe Koenig, it's not about brown nosing. He worked his tail off to support his family before any f/t position came up at the church or school. He always filled in wherever he was needed. It's not about the biggest tattle tale...it's about a servant's heart, no matter where the place may be - TBC or any other school. I, too, could have a slanted view of all the things that I went through, but at this point in my life and service for God.....WHO CARES about all that! God is good and that's all that matters to me now! God bless!

Man, you're right about that. Joe must have been one of the hardest workers I was in the dorms with. Sure did like that guy. Haven't seen him or talked to him in a long time, but he taught me some things that I'm not even sure he knows about. A lot could be said about a lot of people here there and every where, but like you said, it doesn't matter. A wise man recently said to me that it doesn't take much mental work to point out the humanity of another person...we're all human.
My TBC got me a sweet :) promotion at OnStar...and you're right about that too; they didn't care that it was from a "small unaccredited Bible school." They wanted to know if I could finish anything and they really liked that it was a ministry degree because dealing with people is dealing with people...be that at church or at GM!
Hey, What A Blessing, do we know each other? Send me a private message if you want. I see you haven't posted much; do you know about private messages. If you want you can email me...kkeever@roadrunner.com. Don't worry, I won't reveal your identity! :)

eXacto 06-09-2008, 03:58 AM Ok despite all the other things said I just want to tell a little story of my time there! And if anyone reads this-oh well, you got what you deserved.
There were two guys: both had "high" standards and liked to tell people what they did wrong. Did we tattle? No! This is how my dorm buddies solved their disputes:
Exhibit A:
A bunch of us guys worked together, i wont say where cuz i don't wanna out myself. We decided one night to fix one of the guys in the dorm for pretty much being a prick in general (sorry if that word offends you but it's true).
We wrote a script.
We made a call.
We told the guy, who had extensive background in the "Junior RFTC" lol, aka little boys army, and told him he was being deployed to go to Afghanistan to fight the war on terror. (this was 2001 a few months after 9/11).
We told him his service to the US military in the rftc had been recognized and he had been drafted.
It was all fun and games until Bro. S (financial) came and picked him up, he had packed all his things and called them to inform them he was leaving. Turned out they put the S.W. Clinic on hold (this is the week before it), called every army recruiter in the area, and tried to figure out what was going on. Somehow they found out and everyone involved (except me and 2 other guys miraculously) got called in the office. It was classic though.
I'll post Exhibit B later,
but tattle...no way!:D:cool::D:eek:
Kevin Keever 06-09-2008, 01:59 PM That is a terrible joke. Funny, but terrible. :D
Should have just shaved his head or messed with his mountain dew! :D
