Two come to my mind.
First is the Miracle On Ice game between the US and USSR in hockey. My parents did not have a TV but my grandparents were visiting and had a little portable one set up in the bedroom. My parents let me watch the game because it was an Olympic contest. When we won the upset, even though I am not a big hockey fan, I couldn't help but talk about it for days.
The second is the playoff game in 1982 (I think) between Dan Fout's San Diego Chargers and Dan Marino's Miami Dolphins. It was back and forth and though my Phins came off on the losing side, the game was thrilling to watch. The most memorable play to me was the hook-and-ladder touchdown by the Dolphins to end the first half.

All this flashy rhetoric about loving you
I never had a selfless thought since I was born.
I am mercenary and self-seeking through and through;
I want God, you, all friends, merely to serve my turn.
Peace, assurance, pleasure, are the goals I seek,
I cannot crawl one inch outside my proper skin;
I talk of love - a scholar's parrot may talk Greek -
But, self-imprisoned, always end where I begin.
~ C.S. Lewis
