I read a statement by Riplinger that said something like, be careful about people who make statements like, "in the originals" or "you could say that this way" or "what that mean is..." and so on. She said that you should be careful about people/preachers who say statements like that because it usually means that they have been reading or studying from the Revised Version. I think she even said that she had never met or heard of anyone who used those terms who was KJVO and who did not use other version for study or sermon preparation.
Interestingly, when I read that, I had just finished listening to a Bible study on Proverbs by Jack Hyles. I think those tapes were from the 60's or 70's. Do you have ANY idea at all how many times he said those very phrases during that study on Proverbs? Oh, MAN! Did I ever chuckle when I read her words. I thought, "Oh no! What am I going to do. Gail Riplinger is condemning Jack Hyles for reading and studying the RSV!"
As I read some other things. I found a magazine article about what Bro. Hyles used to say versus what he said later in his ministry. Apparently, when he was younger and when he was preaching with Bro. Rice a lot, he did use the Revised Version, but as he grew older, studying, and grew spiritually, he put away childish things and grew in his belief that they KJV.

When asked about things he now believes that perhaps he once did not, Dr. Hyles response was, "...some people grow, and some people don't."
I studied Greek in college and loved every minute of it. I am sad that I only got one year of it. I desire to learn more. I too feel that it didn't turn me into a critic, but rather a more careful Bible studier. I look forward to even more study.
